After successfully completing her medical training, Josje commenced a role as neurology and neurosurgery resident not in training (i.e. anios) for Noordwest Ziekenhuisgroep in Alkmaar. For over a year, she avidly worked as resident and further developed her neurological skills.
While working on her master’s thesis , Josje already developed a curiosity for the neurological sciences. Under supervision of Prof Yvo Roos and Irem Baharoglu, she sought to analyse the occurrence of intracerebral haemorrhages in young populations, especially focusing on potential predictors. Her passion for scientific research, combined with having spent over a year in different neurological clinical roles , brought her to pursue a PhD degree in vascular neurology.
Starting January 1st 2019, Josje will succeed Manon Kappelhof as coordinator of the MR CLEAN Registry. Josje’s dissertation will revolve around several substudies of the MR CLEAN Registry. This includes a contribution to the substudy on P1-occlusions (With: Laura Posthuma, Dr Jonathan Coutinho, Dr Bart Emmer) and on the smoking paradox (With: Irem Baharoglu, Fianne Spaander, Dr Paul Nederkoorn, and Prof Yvo Roos).
